Great Start to 2015 Bermuda Season!!

We got to Bermuda on Monday June 1st.  Our first fishing day was Thursday and we started the season off with a bang, releasing a 600lb plus blue marlin for angler Jason Myers of Charleston, SC.  Great job in the chair Jason!  Conditions offshore look awesome (lots of bait and early warm water) so we are predicting a great blue marlin season for the island.

A headed to Bda travel report…….

We left Ft. Lauderdale last Wednesday evening and arrived in Boat Harbour, Abaco the next day.  Calm seas greeted us with a blue marlin release at noon amongst the tourney fleet.  We fished the next afternoon for a dolphin and fished Saturday, releasing a blue and catching a dolphin. Given the caliber of boats fishing around us, I’d consider we got lucky, but, Hey!!! it’s all good times on this boat.

2015 Season is on!!!!!!

A quick report for late April/Beg. of May: Wahoo fishing was outstanding with 20 wahoos no problem and all boats reporting a very nice quality of fish, with some near 100lbs.  The tunas have stayed quiet thus far, but I did hear a report this morning of some small yellowfins starting to be caught on the Bermuda’s banks (seamounts); usually a sign of great tuna fishing come June!  And a 7oolb blue has been caught by one boat while wahoo fishing so that sure looks good for our billfishing season and hints at maybe an early start, especially with the fantastic early season blue marlin fishing that the Abacos, Bahamas has seen in recent weeks.  We are headed there next week on our way to Bermuda and will be fishing there so will be able to give you a better report from there.  As for our 750 nmile trip up to Bermuda; I hope the blues are all up in between the two islands.  Last year we caught a 600lb’r on the way up!!  Come fish with us!!!!!

The Summer season thru July

One word describes this  blue marlin season: slow!!!  We have had good catches at times, as has the fleet, but in general, all will say it has been slow.  We ourselves have had some good catches, but also, as some of our groups will attest too, very slow days.   Days that stick out though are: Catching a 600lb blue 400 miles out of Bermuda on our way up from Abaco, Bahamas in May. Winning the Day 2 Daily release jackpot in the Billfish Blast, catching 2 blues to win $40k.  Sweet Catching George Georgiou, our Make-a-Wish Foudation billfishing trip donation winner his 1st blue!!! Even sweeter The fishing seems to be picking up and on Sunday, we fish the 1 day Bermuda Release Challenge and so I hope to have a good report and certainly more timely report for you after the next 4 days of fishing.  I apologize for my delay in reports and hope all of you have had a great summer and tight lines!!!!  Cheers, Brooks

Red Hot Wahoo Fishing!!!

Boats in Bermuda have been catching 15-30 wahoo a day with a lot of the fish being size large, 95lbs is the biggest I’ve heard of.  I heard a boat had a blue on yesterday so the water is warming up and the big blues will soon be there in numbers. We are headed to the Bahamas next week, where the fishing has been awesome at Boat Harbour, Abaco.  Boats were getting 3-5 shots at blues a day and the custom boat shootout is on right now and they had really good fishing yesterday, the 1st day.  Hope it stays hot for us, we plan to fish 5 days before heading for Bermuda.  Come fish with us in Bermuda this summer!!!
